In the Pink Birthday Card

Hi friends!  I can't believe another week has gone by.  Time certainly does seem to fly.  I got a lot of crafty time in this weekend and had so much fun.  Happy mail arrived with some new Julie Nutting stamps for me as well as a couple of RAKs.  It certainly inspired my creations this week which I'll share at another time.

Today's card was made a few months ago and I found that I hadn't posted it yet.  I, again, went to my stash of older craft items to make this.

The pretty floral background paper came from a K&Co paper pad that was probably among my first ever craft purchases.  I then took two smaller size papers from the same pad, cut the corners with a fancy edge, and adhered them to the center.  The large crochet and lace flower and tiny roses are from Recollections.  The cream corner pieces at the top were part of a frame that didn't die cut very well but I managed to save these two pieces.  I stamped a sentiment onto a diecut label.  The butterfly was cut with a Martha Stewart punch from the background paper.  Pink pearls from Michaels were added for a finishing touch.

I really am trying to use up my older collection of items.  I keep thinking that I'll use them on the perfect project but it just seems the stash grows waiting for the right creation.  No more.  It's time to make use of these things.  Who knows--the perfect creation may come about in the process!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.  I appreciate each of your comments and enjoy hearing from you.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a good week ahead.

Making Flat Cards

Hi everyone!  Recently, I received a request to make 41 flat birthday cards that would not require extra postage.  This was somewhat of a challenge for me as I do love dimension to my cards.  Of course, it does cost extra to mail them.  The first batch of cards I made were fairly simple stamped images that I colored.  As I got into the swing of things, I did add some embellishments that still were somewhat flat and should be good for mailing.  Today, I will share just a few of the cards.

I've had this Julie Nutting doll stamp for awhile now, and this was the first time I used it.  I did a bit of paper piecing and coloring with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils.  I used Stickles and Liquid Pearls for a touch of sparkle.  Flowers from Petaloo, diecut doilies from Martha Stewart, and a bit of trims and rhinestones add a small amount of dimension.

Sorry for the poor picture quality on the above.  The little present box stamp and a couple of the stamped sentiments came with the doll stamp.  I also used a sentiment from Papertrey Ink.

The Stampendous bird stamp on this card was in the clearance bin at Michael's.  I really love this stamp.  I did some light coloring on the bird and added Stickles and Recollections gold gems to his crown.  A little Distress Ink shading was done to the image and the Prima Printery paper.  The burlap flowers and leaves are from Recollections.  If you click on each photo, you can see the details a little better.

I have several more cards to share from this batch that I'll save for another time.  I have developed a liking to the Julie Nutting doll stamps and plan on getting a couple more.

Have a wonderful week!  I do appreciate the comments you leave.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Angel Card

Hi everyone!  Just a short post today.  Not too long ago, there was a call out on a Facebook site requesting cards for someone who was ill and loved angels.  Here is what I made.

The background was created with scraps of papers from my stash.  I'm not sure what line they are.  The doily, flowers, and gems are Prima.  The pretty Prima gem center was adhered to the bow.  The beautiful layered sticker is from La Petites.  A piece of finely detailed lace was attached across the bottom.

Well, that's it for me today.  Not feeling too well, so I think I'll have an easy Sunday.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I love and appreciate each comment you leave.  Have a wonderful week!

For You

Hi there, dear friends!  Yesterday, we celebrated the 4th of July here in the States.  Our family got together for a barbeque at a cousin's home.  It was nice to catch up with everyone.

Today's card is similar to one I posted a couple of months ago but in a different format.  The papers, scalloped diecut and journaling card are from Pink Paislee.  The gold dimensional butterfly and the tiny diecut doily peeking from under the flower and leaves are Martha Stewart.  I'm not sure who made the burlap flower.  The leaves are Prima, and the rhinestones and gold beads are Recollections.  Unfortunately, I stamped the "for you" sentiment from Paper Salon on an angle but decided to go with it anyway.  A twine bow adds the finishing touch.

I've had these things in my stash for quite awhile so thought I better start using them as I love the soft color palette.

I haven't had a chance to get crafty this weekend, so I think I will squeeze in a bit of time for that this afternoon.  I so look forward to that time each week!  I hope the week ahead is a wonderful one for you.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I appreciate each of your sweet comments.
