Spring Card

Hi everyone!  Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend.  It is a bit overcast here with on and off showers.  Good day to relax, if you can!

Today's card just says spring to me!  The papers and image are from an older Pion Design collection called Vintage Garden.  I love all their papers--so beautiful!  I began with a white cardstock base and adhered the pink pattern paper.  Next, I encircled the sweet image with a diecut from Memory Box called Catalina Wreath.  Lace trim and pearls were added across the bottom.  The flowers are a mix from Paper Studio and Recollections.

I don't always place a sentiment on a card so that I can use them for whatever occasion pops up.  I made this card for a friend shortly after Christmas because she loves pink and shabby chic.

Well, that's it for me today.  I am attending a bridal shower this afternoon so need to get ready for that.  Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments.  I appreciate each one.  Have a wonderful week!

Winter Angels Altered Canvas

Hi everyone!  This past week finally brought a much anticipated snowfall that didn't disappear the same day.  We got about six inches of the white stuff before it changed to an ice storm.  With the very cold temperatures in place for the week, most of the snow is still around.  However, I am sure it will disappear this week as temperatures will climb to the 50s.

Before spring officially arrives tomorrow, I have a winter-themed altered canvas to share with you.  I wanted to showcase the sweet angel image using the reverse side of the canvas.

The canvas is a small size measuring 6x6 inches.  I began by giving it a coat of white gesso.  After gluing the image onto the canvas, I covered  the canvas in a variety of lacy trims from Joann's.  A string of blue pearls was added to enhance the image.  Next, the embellishing began.  The white floral cluster is from Hobby Lobby.  The snowflakes and larger flowers are from Recollections.  The word "Peace" was diecut from silver metallic cardstock.

In the photo above, you can see where I used a Tim Holtz snowflake stencil and some Golden Pearl Mica Flake paste to decorate the sides and back of the canvas.  If you click on each image, you can view the details better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by.  I do appreciate all your kind comments.  Have a wonderful week ahead!

Butterfly Birthday

Recently, I needed a card for a dear scrapping friend who had an upcoming birthday.  I decided to dig into my Tim Holtz supplies, and here is what I made.

Everything used here is from Tim Holtz except the gold beads and seam binding.  The butterfly is a stamp and die set and was colored in an assortment of Distress Inks.  The base is Distress cardstock with a layer of pattern paper from the Wallflower collection.  The stitched oval was cut from the same Distress cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped with Distress Ink and adhered with foam squares as was the butterfly.  With St. Patrick's Day this week, I thought it was a good time to share this card since it is predominately green!

Winter seems to have finally arrived this weekend with a bit of snow on Friday, very cold temperatures, and perhaps a major snowstorm come Monday night.  What a mixed-up season this year!  Thank you so much for stopping by.  I appreciate your kind comments.  Have a wonderful week!

Heart Tag

Another week has gone by and we are now in the month of March.  Where did February go?  For that matter, where did winter go?  We've had mainly mild temperatures and very little snow.  In fact, we've been hitting 70 degrees each week at one point and then dipping back to 30 degree temperatures the next day.  Flowers are popping out on one of my trees which is way too early!

Today, I have a heart tag to share.  Papers from Pion Design's "To My Valentine" collection were used to cover a plain tag.  A postage frame chipboard piece was coated in glitter from Martha Stewart.  A wooden Recollections heart was added to the top of a chipboard heart from my stash and placed on top of the frame.  Pieces of lace were glued to the bottom and one side of the tag.  Flowers and leaves from Recollections form a cluster below the heart.  A twine bow was tucked into the cluster.  The butterfly was fussy cut from the papers and highlighted with Stickles.  Tea-stained twill ribbon is tied at the top.

While this collection was geared toward Valentine's Day, you can see that it can be used for any other purpose as well.

Last week, I ended up with a full-blown migraine--something I had been so fortunate to find relief from in the last few years.  I hope a new pattern isn't beginning!  Wishing each of you a wonderful week ahead.  Thank you so much for stopping by and for your wonderful comments!
